After consultation with our parents/carers the school decided on an 8.45am start and for infant classes will finish at 1.25pm. From 1st Class and upwards the day will end at 2.25pm. There is a reduced timetable for Junior Infants in the initial weeks.
School Site - Greystones Rugby Club
The school will be based initially at Dr. Hickey Park (Greystones Rugby Club), Mill Rd, Greystones. Please see below the drawings of our site and pictures of our temporary accommodation. We are extremely fortunate to have access to the entire Rugby Club grounds as well as access to the Eire Og GAA hall for PE lessons. For parents there is plenty of parking right beside the school and as we at the southern end of the town they completely avoid the infamous Greystones morning rush hour traffic.
As a new school and being a Community National School we enter into serious consultation with parents/carers before adopting policies and you can see ours at the policies section of our website.
Enriching the Curriculum
The school provides the full National Primary School Curriculum as specified by the Department of Education & Skills. However, we look to offer the children opportunities to enrich their learning by providing specialist teachers and experiences. Since September we have been involved in several initiatives including the Junior Art Gallery and the Shoebox appeal. The children have had specialist Rugby and GAA coaches in and we hope to have the FAI in before the end of the year. Over the course of the year the children will experience Mindfulness sessions, Music Generation Wicklow, East Coast Academy of Performing Arts, Irish Dancing as well as heritage and biodiversity walks with a horticulturalist. As a Community National School we teach the children the important role all stakeholders in the community play and regularly visit local institutions and businesses. Please visit our Gallery and News sections to see how we enrich the curriculum in more detail.
