6th Class Graduation 2023
On Thursday we celebrated our Sixth Class Graduation ceremony! A monumental occasion for the children and the school. From back in 2015 when they started our school to now, this group of young adults have set a great example to all around them - kindness, enthusiasm and genuine care for each other. As a school we are hugely proud of each and every one of them, and cannot wait to see them continue their journey into secondary school and beyond - we know they will be a huge success in whatever they choose to do. Be bold, be brave and be you! And remember to come back and pay a visit!
Wicklow Hurlers Pay a Visit
There was great excitement in the hall when we were lucky enough to have the Wicklow hurling team pay a visit. It was a brilliant experience, with many of our children getting autographs on their own equipment (and shirts!). Big thanks to Mr. Hughes for organising!
4th and 5th Class Cricket Blitz!
We were lucky enough to take a 4th class and 5th class team up to Greystones Cricket Club to take part in a Cricket Leinster tournament. Each team got to play in 3 games. Despite never having played a cricket match before, they were absolutely brilliant and managed to both win 2 out of 3 games. There was some amazing hitting with the bat, accurate bowling and awesome catching and fielding. Well done to all involved. Future Irish cricket players in the making!
Another Day....Another Award!
We are delighted to announce that GCNS have been awarded their first Amber Flag award. This award is presented to schools who make a conscious effort to promote and improve wellbeing and mental health in the school community. Also, a big thank you to Pieta house for recognising all our hard work and for all the hard work they do to help people who need support.

With a capacity crowd of at least 320, GCNS 4th and 5th Class (managed by Ms. McDonagh) took on arguably the greatest teacher side in the world in a highly competitive game of football. It was the first ever meeting between our teachers and students and will be etched into the memory books for years to come! It was also the debut of our new GCNS sports jerseys, which looked fantastic!
Our students raced into a 3 - 0 lead thanks to some excellent play and it was only the stamina, resilience, luck and...well, Mr. Doyle, that got the teachers back into the game!
With the whistle blown for full time, the match went to sudden death penalties, with Mr. Kinane scoring the winner for the teachers!
No doubt this will become an annual event during Active Schools Week - and I am sure our students will want revenge! Well done to everyone involved - Mr. Doyle, Mr. Kinane, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Cheetham, Ms. Lawless, Ms. Dalton and Ms. Crowley for the teachers and all the students from 4th and 5th Class who participated!
