3rd Class recently had a visit from our local fire services to talk to the children about fire safety in the home. The visit was well received by the children and they enjoyed their homework -checking their houses, too : ).
Today we were lucky and delighted to have a visit from Jennifer Dunne (Cuala) and the Brendan Martin Cup. Jennifer was part of the Dublin Senior Ladies team who won the cup for the 3rd year in a row last September. She spoke to the children about her training, team set up, selection and answered some of the many questions. At only 20 years of age she's a lot more to give to Dublin yet, hopefully another All-Ireland win this year. Great inspiration for our children.
Some of our 3rd class children represented our school at a football blitz in Shoreline on Thursday 16th. A great time was had by all!
Families were treated to fantastic performances from each of our 8 classes on Wednesday, December 18th. The wonderful singing, poetry, jokes, dancing and Lámh signing more than made up for the miserable weather outside. 2nd and 3rd Classes took their performances on the road and performed for the residents and staff of Greystones Nursing Home on Thursday, December 19th. We couldn't have been prouder of our children.
A huge thank you to our amazing staff who had the hall in the rugby club looking the best it has ever looked! A big thank you also to our PTP who provided festive treats at the school.
A whopping €400 was raised for this fabulous cause, a huge thanks to all our school community for their continued support for our various fundraising efforts.
A huge thank you to our wonderful school community who so kindly donated to the Shoebox Appeal 2019. Brian from PMVT visited the school on Friday, December 6th to talk to the children in 1st - 3rd Classes about homelessness and how we can all help. He was overwhelmed by the generosity and empathy evident in our school.
We were delighted to receive a build update today and some pics to go with it. We can see lots of ground work being done at the site and look forward to the foundations going in soon.
We were delighted to get our flower beds ready for action yesterday adding compost to the lovely beds that were kindly donated by our parents. We look forward to planting seeds soon and tending the plants as they grow in the coming months. Many thanks to the PTP Green Committee for helping us to organise this lovely space.
We were very proud of all of our children and parents for winning the overall award at the Greystones St. Patrick's Day Parade. A keenly contested title, this win was testament to the huge efforts of our children, teachers and especially our parents. This is another of example of the excellent work of our Parent Teacher Partnership who led this entire endeavour - with huge thanks going to the Arts Committee for what was a massive effort. Well done to all concerned! You can see some pictures at our gallery .
Today we had a visit from Community Gardaí, Maria and JP. They brought along some very specials guests to meet all the boys and girls.
15 Year old Ruiarí and his Garda Joe and 14 year old Fíachra and his Garda Kate. The children really enjoyed meeting the horses up close and were able to ask questions which both Kate and Joe answered. We discovered that the Gardaí have a total of 14 Horses who live at Áras an Uachtaráin.
