Hand hygiene has always been a vital issue and one whose importance was always emphasised to the children. However in the current times, it is even more important that children are aware of their hand hygiene and have a good knowledge and understanding of the hand washing process. This will of course be relayed to the children throughout each day but coming into Junior Infants with prior knowledge of the importance of this would be ideal too. Below are a few links to make this process more appealing to children and aid them in doing it effectively.

Children should become familiar with opening and closing lunch boxes and bottles and putting on and taking off their coat independently. This can be practiced over the summer so that when September comes children will be confident with these tasks. Below is a fun trick we like to use in GCNS to aid children in putting on their coat independently and easily!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cH8BiuaJ4c&feature=emb_logo

Ensure that your child's school cardigan, jumper and coat are labelled with a marker that won't wash off.
